The orientation distribution function (ODF) of an AA3003 aluminum alloy sheet was followed at three levels of rolling reductions. The dislocation densities of the major texture components were studied by transmission electron microscopy (TEM).There is a crystallographic orientation dependence of the dislocation density from low to high rolling strain. A simple equation relating the dislocation density change and the crystallographic orientation is used to assess the load instability of somecommon rolling texture components.
