Status and Future Plans for the Economic Growth Analysis System (EGAS)

With the advent of the revised National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS), States will be required to perform modeling of their new nonattainment areas. To assist in this modeling, the EPA is revising the current Economic Growth Analysis System (EGAS) software (Version 3.0). The purpose of EGAS is to provide growth factors for projecting emission inventories. In creating EGAS Version 4.0, revisions will be made to the current EGAS to employ the most up-to-date data, projections guidance, and models that are available, and to make the system more user-friendly. This paper describes the updates and revisions that are currently being incorporated into EGAS Version 4.0. The target release date for EGAS Version 4.0 is April 1999.
