Anisotropic structure transformation and arrangement of gold nanoparticle are studied by the aid of triphenylene (TP) ligand. For shape control, gold nanoparticles protected by TP (AuTP) transform to nanodisks by simple UV irradiation in chloroform. TP on gold nanoparticles play a role as mask in directing the deposition of gold atoms at a specific position. For arrangement of gold nanoparticle, 1D stripe-like and hcp arrangements of AuTPs were formed by selection of appropriate solvent. These arrangements are achieved by the tuning of the π-π interaction among the adjacent TP ligands on a particle surface.
