摘要

The magnetic circular dichroism spectra of the ~5D_1 <- ~7F_0and ~5D_2 <- ~7F_0 transitions of Eu~(3+) in the cubic KY_3F_(10) crystalstructure have previously been analysed (1) based on the rigorous applicationof the Stephens formalism. Hereby the resulting spectrum is a superposition ofA_1 and B_0-terms imposed by the three different orientations of the C_(4v)sites.It is shown here that the spectrum can be analysed in a clear andstraightforward manner, bypassing several approximations inherent to theprevious treatment and providing an easy tool for further symmetryexaminations of randomly oriented systems like solutions and glasses.
