Designing effective quality systems for horticultural businesses and organisations

An effective quality system in any part of the horticultural supply chain should be designed to meet the needs and requirements of the customer(s), and must also make a valuable contribution to the business or organisation developing and implementing it. There are several international codes and standards that can be used as guidelines, benchmarks and checklists for applying quality systems. This paper outlines options involving practical and economical methodologies to design and implement an effective, tailored quality system. It also discusses the methodology and uses for 'quality planning'.
