Noise control in modern position sensor design for avionics

The effects of noise generated by digital electronics on avionics hardware has raised concerns over the last several years. Particularly vulnerable to this noise are the many analog sensors used throughout an aircraft for monitoring a significantnumber of commands and their responses. A description is formulated of the widely used positioning sensor in aircraft known as the linear variable differential transformer. A study is performed of some of the most common noise problem that could affectthe performance of this sensor. Techniques are develop to easily correct some of these noise problems. Measurement are performed to corroborate some of the noise control techniques.
