The internally geared hypocycloid mechanism which generates a straight line motion, has been tried to use as the motion and power transmission mechanism for an internal combustion engine, because such engine can be expected some essential advantages in comparison with conventional engines of piston crank mechanisms. However, the such new engine doesn't reach utility for some weak points which the geared mechanism has. Then, authors make use of the strong points of the geared mechanism and get over the weak points, and furthermore, it is devised how to lighten and miniaturize the geared mechanism. Finally, the paper presents the improved geared mechanism for a horizontally opposed two cylinder diesel engine.
