Engine Performance and Emissions of Diesel Vehicle Operated on Biodiesel Fuel - Real-Time On-Board Measurement System

It is necessary to estimate the engine performance and emission s at real traffic conditions on several roads. In order to investigate those characteristics in detail, it should make allowance for much information such as road infrastructure, traffic conditions and driver's operations on road. Recently, the on-board measurement system installed in a vehicle has been developed. In this study, this system was applied to a diesel vehicle fueled with biodiesel fuel, which has been much attention of an alternative fuel for diesel engines. It was investigated the engine performance and emissions. The results show that PM emissions of biodosel fuel are lower than that of gas oil at real traffic.
