A medium-duty gybrid truck has been developed aiming at the achievement of a high efficiency and a low emission truck for 21st century. The gybrid system is characterized in being composed of a higher efficiency motor and a capacitor type energy storage system. The double layer capacitor has the ability to store large amounts of energy from regenerative braking at high power rates and higher efficiency. The improvement of the fuel economy and emissions were achieved by combining these components with a parallel type hybrid mechanism.
