In this paper, we investigated the properties of torsional rigidity and stress distribution of spot-welded box beam witch the spot pitch varies longitudinally. In this case, the warping of cross section varies longitudinally. To analyze it, we proposed to apply the general theory of torsion based on the warping torsion theory to a spot-welded beam and the method to estimate the torsional rigidity of the beam mentioned above with this theory. Torsional rigidity of spot-welded beam obtained by the present method was in agreement with the results by experiment or FEM.
