Practical ejector cooling system powered by solar thermal energy with little electricity consumption is being developed. Ejector modeling, analysis, design, and experiments with an indoor setup were carried out by our group. The production of 15°C water from 69°C heat source was confirmed with a COP_T of 0.26 at a condensing temperature of 33°C. The new system uses an air-cooled condenser using water transpiration effect from porous ceramics. In an effort to minimize electricity usage, a new heat-powered liquid pump will be used instead of an electric pump. The feasibility of using special substances, hydrates, with freezing point between 5 and 20°C at ambient pressure, as cool storage medium will be checked.
