This paper concerns with a scheduling method for painting process that has much longer production lead time than that in assemble line. In general, production schedule of the painting process is made independently based on the forecasted job requirement at the assemble line. Therefore, when the job order changes at the assemble line, production balance between the painting process and the assemble line is destroyed, and then tardiness often occurs. This urges the painting process having many inventories to avoid the tardiness. To cope with this problem, we propose a scheduling method that makes the Pull production possible for the painting process to avoid the tardiness and to keep the smallest inventory. We have evaluated the scheduling method by computer simulation.
