To evaluate the effect on yield and cob characteristics of growing processing sweet corn on 24" (narrow) and 30" (wide) row widths as plant population and in-row spacing are affected. Twenty-four and 30 inch between-row spacing were evaluated on a processing sweet corn variety, Bonus (su, 83 days -1750° HU Base Unit 50). An eight-row 24" Kinze ringer planter (courtesy of L Brooks) and a two-row 30" Monosem planter (courtesy of NYCRF) were used to plant the trial. The outside two planter boxes of the eight row planter were disengaged. The different planting combinations are listed in Table 1.
