Timely broadcast applications of herbicides have become an integral part of proper weed control in cotton. As herbicides have evolved and today as technology brings us new genetics in seed, the manner in which we make these timely over-the-top broadcast applications is very important. In 1993, Redball introduced the Redball Broadcast Spray Hood in California. The Redball Broadcast Spray Hood was initially designed for applying Roundup~(R) into the row middles of almond orchards and vineyards. The excellent crop safety that the hood offers allowed these permanent crop growers to make timely applications of non-selective herbicides in no-till and reduced-tillage practices.
