Pharmacology of the digestive tract

The pharmacology of the digestive system can be divided in four different aspects:1. The influence and action of the avian digestive system on pharmacokinetics and pharmacology of drugs orally administered for systemic treatment compared to other administration routes. 2. Agents used therapeutically because of their actions on the digestive tract that modify or influence one or more of the physiologic functions. 3. The influence of a diseased digestive system on drug-pharmacology and the consequences for the patient. 4. The drug activity on the digestive system as an undesired complication (toxicity) after administration of orally or parenterally administered pharmaceuticals. The first two aspects have been presented in detail.
