Kunming is the capital of Yunnan province. It is a beautiful city in southwestern part of China, formed with long history and splendid national culture. Kunming is divided into eight counties and one city with total population of 4.5 million. Kunming has a territory of 21,000 square kilometers. Kunming is located at 24 deg 23 min-26 deg 25 min N and 102 deg 13 min - 103 deg 41 min E. It is at an elevation of 1894 meters. The climate belongs to subtropical monsoon climatic zones with annual mean temperature of 15.1 deg C and annual mean precipitation of 1035 mm. Its annual sunshine is 2480 hours with 231 frost-free days.
