Based on the latest standards,a new generation audio quality measurement tool was developed that allows for the objeictive,perceptual based evaulation of compresed speech and audio signals within a single device.For the qulaity evaluatio of ocmpressed wide band audio signals the novel mehtod according to the ITU-R Recommendation BS.1387 (PEAQ) was implemneted.in addition.for the quality evaluatin fo compressed speech signals,the ocmplimentary ITU-T standard P.861(PSQM) was provided.The open framework concpet is well suited to aid further extensions of objective quality metrics.THis paper introduces the underlyign ocncpet of the ocmbined measurement tool and discusses the rnage of practical applciations as well as some example results.
