Tyre deflation warning systems

There has always been a requirement for maintaining correct tyre pressures. With the increasing use of run-flat tyres it is vital that drivers are warned of pressure loss before damage occurs and several methods are becoming widely available. Some are pressure monitoring systems which give an indication of actual tyre pressure while others simply warn of a deflation by measuring some pressure-related property of the tyre or suspension. (This latter approach follows the thinking by which the oilpressure gauge was replaced by a simple warning lamp.) The operation of one such device which relies on wheel speed is detailed.
