CURRENT TRENDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES OF THE BLACK SEA REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT

During last decades the growth of earnestness of environmental problems in the Black Sea region is taking place that is manifested in: high level of contamination of the Black Sea coastal waters; profound alterations of the Black Sea ecosystem as a consequence of the sea waters contamination and overexploitation of its biologic resources; fundamental transformation of the sea shore landscapes due to the intensive agricultural and industrial development of the Black Sea coastal countries; high level contamination of natural environments on the sea's shore. It is shown that current trends of unfavorable change of the Black Sea ecosystem, the state of natural environment on the sea coasts may be enhanced by global climate warming and sea level rise. The stabilization and restoration of the environment in the region are possible on the basis of cardinal transformation of the land- and sea-use technology. It supposes: a development of the ecologically safe technology of the fresh water resources use, moving the ecologically harmful enterprises out of the sea shores boundaries, planning and supporting the sustainability of natural and semi-natural coastal landscapes, strict regulation of natural resources use in the sea and on its coasts.
