A staged combustion burner has been developed that uses diesel exhaust gas as oxidant for the combustion of heavy fuel oil. Combustion staging destroys DEG bound NOx through reburning Plans are presented for incorporation of a staged combustionburner into a Diesel Combined Technology combined cycle, with comparisons made between this and other diesel technologies based on emissions and thermodynamic performance. A First Law analysis shows that a threeengine Diesel Combined Technology combined cycle can generate as much as 90 MW at efficientcies in excess of 45%, with Nox reductions as high as 60% when compared to a simple cycle diesel plant f equivalent power output.
