Rhenium nanopowders are produced by hydrogen reduction of ammonium perrhenate (APR) in nitrogen thermal plasma jet followed by heat treatment in hydrogen at 973 K. Plasma torch of 20 kW in power and reactor with confined plasma jet are used in experiments, process productivity is about 0.3 - 0.6 kg Re per hour depending on initial APR flow rate. Mass fraction of nanoparticles with the size less than 100 nm is higher than 80% in nanopowders produced in plasma reactor, specific surface area of nanopowders varies in the range 3.0 - 8.0 m~2/g. Concentration of oxygen impurity in nanopowder after heat treatment does not exceed 0.4 weight%.
