Thermodynamic properties of [60] and [70] fullerenes have been studied intensely in the recent years. The fundamental quantities such as formation enthalpies, heat capacities and sublimation enthalpies for both most abundant fullerenes were reported by several groups (1). In the paper presented at San Diego meeting Piedade et al. summarizes the results on combustion calorimetry experiments and shows that a considerable discrepancy still remain between the reported formation enthalpy data for [60] and [70]fullerenes. Difference in the prehistory of fullerene samples is believed the most probable cause of the disagreement between the data reported by several groups. Further experiments on the carefully characterized samples of [60] and [70]fullerenes should be performed.
