The major goal of the group was to identify the methods of documenting impacts of pollution in the Ural Region. This may include attempting to obtain funding, plan a proposal, and organize a steering committee to implement the work. Pollutants of concern are causing both ecosystem damage and human health effects. It is the opinion of the group that human health effects are more important. Therefore decisions on environmental studies to be conducted should focus on the long-term goal of reducing adverse health impacts (with particular emphasis on the health of children).
