An Investigation of Optical Properties of Erbium Doped Zinc Sulfide Nanoparticles

Doped semiconductor nano particles of group II-VI such as ZnS, CdS have been widely investigated in the past [1]. Doping is very important not only to control the transport properties of the semiconductors but also to modify their optical properties [2]. Semiconductors used in optoelectronics are doped with metal ions, especially transition, or rare earth metal ions like europium, terbium and erbium. Doped semiconductor nanoparticles have been mostly synthesized by chemical capping method. In recent years, many researchers have been studying on ZnS:Er by expensive methods such as ion implantation. Our goal in this work is to produce Er doped ZnS by a chemical approach.
