Cable Fault Prelocating with a Minimum Risk to a Good Cable

The introduction of dielectric cables and modern technology has imposed restrictions on cable fault prelocating. Burning, reclosing, the use of very high voltages during DC impulse testing should no longer be included in any power cable fault prelocating practices. Old techniques are still using in the field, but new method is faster, cheaper, more reliably and with less risk to a good cable.
