Neoplasia in small rodents and hedgehogs

Neoplastic disease in rodents and other small mammals occurs at a higher rate than clinically recognized. This is a result of the small percentage of these pets which receive veterinary care and the limited knowledge the average practitioner has of these patients. Due to their high metabolism and relatively short life spans, these patients develop neoplasia and other geriatric conditions within a couple years. Often little can be done for these small patients when they develop a neoplastic condition.
