The Robert-Jones bandage is used for temporary immobilization of distal limb injuries, especially fractures and severe degloving wounds. The bandage will immobilize the limb, reducing edema and swelling, and absorb considerable amounts of exudate. Though these bandages are usually applied appropriately, occasionally they are applied for inappropriate situations or applied incorrectly.
