Ozone disinfection allows nevada water systems to meet surface water treatment rule

Several Nevada water systems located along the east shore of Lake Tahoe are installing or already utilizing ozone disinfection to bring theirexising water suppy systems into compliance w ith the EPA Surface Water Treatment Rule (SWTR). The SWTR requires treatment (filtration and/or disinfection) of all surface waters to rrduce Giardia cysts and viruses by 3 and 4 logs respectively.
