CIAE had established a thin film alanine/ESR dosimetry system for radiation processing dose level, especially for electron beam irradiation. But the background dose of un-irradiated dosimeter is about several Gy. In order to extend the application of alanine/ESR dosimetry system to radiotherapy dose level, pellet alanine dosimeter is recently developed and studied in CIAE. Preparation conditions were studied to reduce the background signal. And some results of its basic dosimetric characteristics are presented here.
