The provisioning of location-specific ambient services in medium-sized facilities like shopping malls, hospitals, and trade fares using WLAN access points or cellular phone systems has some drawbacks. It is rather inflexible or results in high running costs. We have proposed a new self-organizing infrastructure called Ad hoc Service Grid (ASG) that is based on a mobile ad hoc network to resolve these issues [1]. In this paper, we concentrate on the service distribution in ASGs and present a new algorithm for replicating and migrating services to optimize network bandwidth usage and client response times. We evaluate the effectiveness of our algorithm based on simulation results.
