Volatile and thermally stable nickel complexes have been prepared by the reaction of fluorine substituted, nickel #beta#-diketonates with neutral (poly)oxygen and (poly)nitrogen donor ligands.Ni(RC(O)CHC(O)R')_2 + L -----> ^SNi(RC(O)CHC(O)R')_2.LR = R' = CF_3; L = CH_3O(CH_2CH_2O)_nCH_3 ( n = 1,2); (CH_3)_2NCH_2CH_2N(CH_3)_2; (CH_3)_2NCH_2CH_2N(CH_3)CH_2CH_2N(CH_3)_2.These complexes, which have low melting points, have been applied as precursors in MOCVD experiment^224Ls directed on nickel and nickel oxide deposition. Investigations into the deposition of NiO in porous YSZ via particle precipitation MOCVD, for the development of an anode for a planar Solid Oxide Fuel Cell, are reported.
