Use is made of the large and non-linear deformation numerical approach in combination with FLAC in back analysis, from the observed country rock convergence, of the parameters involved in bolt-grouting of soft-rock roadways, on the assumption that the country rock is visco-elastico-plastic and with in consideration the time dependent effects by the approach of equivalent elastic modulus. Optimization is thereafter conducted of the said parameters. A new approach of numerical analysis, namely the large and non-linear deformation numerical approach, is thus offered, as basis for the designing and construction of bolt-grouting.
