In the high power range, the torque ripples in double stator synchronous machines (DSSM) fed by current inverter can be reduced by the use of an active filter. However, desired filtering effects can only be achieved when the limited capability of the active filter and its working conditions are taken into account. This paper focuses on the performances of voltage-source active filters in reducing torque ripples presents in the DSSM. It will deal with the design features of the filter such as a power rating and a control method and also the study of the case where this filter is combined with a passive one.
