It is shown that input-decoupling fuzzy-logic controllers can be readily designed for non-reentrant manufacturing systems. This general design methodology for input-decoupling fuzzy-logic controllers is illustrated by reference to the closed-loop control of a non-reentrant manufacturing system incorporating two machines and producing a single part-type. It is shown that excellent controlled behaviour is obtained by using an input-decoupling fuzzy-logic controller that incorporates three fuzzy-logic controllers of identical structure.
