This paper is concerned with the experimental determination of the explosion characteristics of Shenfu coal dust-air mixtures. Experiments were carried out in a closed sphere vessel with a volume of 20 liter. A systematic study of the influence of dust concentration, concentration of oxygen, initial pressure and temperature in the closed sphere vessel on the explosion characteristics of Shenfu coal dust-air mixtures simulating the commercial PCI process at Baosteel was conducted. Experimental results show that the concentration of oxygen is the key factor which affects the explosibility of Shenfu coal dust-air mixtures sharply.
