INTERLABORATORY COMPARISONS (MAPs/MCPs/ round robins) evaluate TEST PROCESS PERFORMANCE. They address one of two problems faced by a manufacturer (producer) -VARIATION OF TEST RESULTS on a product. The other problem is VARIATION OF THE PRODUCT ITSELF. Measurement Assurance Programs (MAPs) are documented processes that use statistical methods to determine the level of bias and variability of a test, measurement, or manufacturing process. The MAP results can be used to describe the level of reproducibility of a product or service.
