Is there too much subjectiveness in Section 6 of ANSI/NCSL Z540-1-1994 and ISO Guide 25 when demonstrating through documentation the qualifications of your laboratory personnel? Should NCSL publish a recommended practice on personnel training records? This paper is intended to illustrate a method of record keeping that will satisfy the requirement of these standards. Illustrative records presented in this paper will consist of examples of a typical job description, a new employee orientation record, employee educational and training records, employee experience and special abilities documentation, and the employee performance appraisal report. These illustrations are not intended to be a rule of "must-do" or suggested that this should be fully implemented, but rather to serve as guidance to satisfy the requirements of these standards. The presentation is also intended to be somewhat of a workshop and to allow enough time for discussion and audience participation.
