摘要

Most of the world's synthetic polymers are routinely checked for molecular weight using a three-step process known as solution viscosity analysis. This process begins by accurate solution preparation in which the polymer is dissolved in a suitable solvent. In the next step, the viscosity of the solution and the pure solvent is measured as accurately as possible. In the final step, the molecular weight is estimated using equations originally developed by Albert Einstein. Einstein's theory and solution viscosity measurement are directly related to the physical meaning of the phrase "Blood is thicker than water." The practical and theoretical basis for this important measurement will be presented.
