Brazing was practiced by the Egyptians around 1475 B.C. The first materials were noble metals, gold, silver etc., and then in later years iron, steel and other materials were used. Brazing of wrought materials has been practiced for many years. One of the values of brazing is its capability to form strong bonds between materials of widely different compositions and properties. Complex assemblies can be made. P/M complicated parts can be mass pro-and joined by brazing with no melting of the base material. There is less distortion or warpage during furnacing since all the parts - P/M to P/M, P/M to wrought - are uniformly heated. The brazing of P/M parts has opened new areas for P/M.
