Recent studies on resonances in heavy ion reactions have brought out evi-dences to associate this phenomenon with hyperdeformed exotic multi cluster nuclear structures manifesting at high excitations in nuclei. The evidences in the case of 16O + 12C and 12C + T systems leading to 28Si and 24Mg are discussed.
