The formation, structure and properties of titanium based quasicrystals are reviewed. Points of interest include the origin of the strong structural disorder frequently found, the role of oxygen and silicon in quasicrystal formation, and the structural relations and phase transitions between the i-phase, metallic glasses and cubic crystal approximants, including the 111, 3/2 and 513. Preliminary studies of titanium-based quasicrystals for hydrogen storage applications are discussed.
