TRANSFORMATION BEHAVIOUR OF AL-CU-CO DECAGONAL PHASE

摘要

Observation of distorted decagonal-like structures in Al-Cu-Co is explained as an indication of the formation of metastable intermediate states during cooling of perfect decagonal quasicrystals from elevated temperatures. This phenomenon is analysed and discussed with the example of the Al6Cu11Co21 composition.
