The vibrational spectrum of a simple model for an F-type icosahedral quasicrystal is calculated numerically. Two different approaches, symmetric clusters and periodic approximants, are compared. The spectrum turns out to be rather smooth. Despite of the absence of gaps in the spectrum, the rescaling symmetry of the spectra in ID reappears in the band structure of 3D periodic approximants.
