THE SIGNIFICANCE OF SEAMANSHIP TRAINING IN THE EDUCATION OF FLEET PERSONNEL

Student training fulfils three functions: the transformation of reality in the course of a regular student's work, enabling a student to verify his theories - mainly by practical application of acquired knowledge, and finally, the training makes up an additional source of knowledge and skills. The following kinds of training are distinguished: candidate, seamanship and assistent training. All kinds of training influence the student's personalities and bring excellent opportunities to get the students acquainted with good seaman customs and marine culture and to make future officers aware how responsible they will be for human life and the entrusted property.
