Researchers have shown that high values of torsional loads are present at the hip joint in activities such as rising from a chair or climbing stairs. The role of muscle forces and the nature of stress distribution in bone and implant remains an open question. The goal of this study is to find the interface shear and normal stress distributions in the cortical bone under realistic muscle forces in stair climbing.
