Buckwheat in the European Union of 1994

Agriculture policy of the European Union (EU) has been promoiting, since its creation in 1958, almost essentially the development of crops with high economic return, such as sugar beet, wheat, rice, milk and meat. However, from half a dozen years ago, one can find a revival of the interest for buckwheat, for which the reasons seem to be: - special taste for culinary specialties; for ex."crepe breton" and "crepe belge", -prefernece for natural products: biological products, -effective loophole on the market: economic advantages, -extensive cultivation in the fields to occupy "set-aside soils". considering these reasons a clear-sighted research was started in France (Ref.1) and in Belgium(Ref.2&3).
