We report the generation of a high-density aluminum plasma by irradiating a picosecond KrF laser pulse of a few joule energy at 10$+15$/ W/cm$+2$/. Electron density N$-e$/ was estimated from the intensity ratio of Ly$-$alpha$/ satellite components. N$-e$/ of 10$+23$/ cm$+$MIN@3$/ was generated when the prepulse was suppressed. When the prepulse was not suppressed, N$-e$/ of 10$+22$/ cm$+$MIN@3$/ was observed, and the emitting region of satellites was wider than that when the ASE was suppressed.
