User Experience Evaluation on Ticket Gage of Subway Station: A Repertory Grid Approach

Methods of user experience evaluation play an important role in guiding designers in designing for a desired user experience, but methodological research on how to evaluate experience effectively is inadequate. The main aim of our study was to evaluate user experience with the ticket gate of subway station. This paper discussed Repertory Grid Technique (RGT), a method adopted from psychology that has been used in product development to help unveil users' subjective feelings about the product, and empirically illustrated a way in which the RGT may be conducted as an approach in field study for dealing with user experience evaluation. In conclusion, the application of this technique elicited valuable insight from respondents and provided promising direction for further research on user experience evaluation.
