We studied the optimization method to reduce the amount of resin ropethat used to fill the gap between the LNG tank and insulation panelswhile complying with the flatness criteria of the insulation panels.The space between the thermal insulation panels and LNG tank hullshould be reduced to minimize the use of resin rope. In this study, thecorrugation of the inner side of the hull is measured, and the offset tableof the corrugation is used to calculate the deformation of the LNG tankhull. To solve the optimization problem, an objective function withconstraints is mathematically formulated and solved by using the geneticalgorithm.To check the applicability of the proposed method, we simulated thermalinsulation panel installation and compared with an existing program. Theresults show that the proposed method can be effectively used forinstallation of the thermal insulation panels of the LNG tank.
