We provide an overview of the activities at the Loads and Aeroelasticsdepartment at Airbus in support of the design of the wing fuel tanksfor large passenger aircraft. Particular focus is given to a recent designmodification of the best-selling Single Aisle family, which required theestimation of ”local” fuel loads (pressure distribution and forces) underdynamic excitations. In addition, we present a series of recent experimental tests, which lookedat the effect of sloshing on the ”global” dynamic response of the aircraft. The campaign was performed with the aim of validating numerical fluidstructureinteraction models for discrete gust and continuous turbulenceencounters.
